Hylands has high expectations of its pupils and their uniform. Outsiders often judge a school by the appearance and conduct of its pupils in public. Wearing a uniform encourages a feeling of security and gives a sense of belonging to a community. Pupils are expected to wear uniform at school functions, or visits out of school hours, and when representing the school.

School uniform is a condition of entry and anyone arriving at school in non-uniform clothing or footwear may expect to be sent home to get changed, or if this is not possible, to work alone for the day.
Full school uniform must be worn on the journey to and from school. Uniform must always be worn in the correct manner and not customised in anyway.
