"To facilitate exams in an enviroment which keeps stress to a minimum and allows all students to achieve their potential."
At Hylands school we use five main examination awarding bodies to teach and examine GCSE/GCE/NVQ/NVQ/BTEC. They are AQA, OCR, Edexcel, City & Guilds andWJEC.
Written exams are timetabled throughout the year with the main periods being November, January, March, May and June. All Summer series exams are finished by 30th June. We also hold 'Mock' exams in December.
With effect from September 2013 the only exam series will be November (for English, English Language & Mathematics GCSE resits) & May/June.
In addition to these written exams, there will be 'Controlled Assessments' and Coursework set throughout the year by the teaching staff. The Controlled Assessments are at 3 levels of control(high, medium and low) for each assessment stage
(task setting, task taking and test marking). It is, therefore, very important that students attend every single lesson as absence may mean that a student misses a Controlled Assessment. Which will contribute towards each qualification.
