Inspection Reports

Following an OFSTED inspection on 12 -13 March 2013 Hylands was recognised as a GOOD school in all four areas of the inspection.

Inspectors highlighted the substantial and rapid improvement in students’ achievement particularly in English and mathematics, and teaching which strongly focuses on making sure students learn.

The inspectors observed lessons from across the curriculum and the large majority of these lessons were judged to be ‘good’ with teachers using assessment constructively to encourage confidence and motivate students.

They report that students behave well in lessons and are very respectful of staff and friendly and courteous to visitors, with sixth form students being excellent role models for younger students.

Minister of State for Schools Letter.

Headteacher, Mr Neil Dunn said, "I believe this OFSTED report accurately reflects where we are as a school, and highlights 'the students' positive attitudes and willingness to stive to be their best.  It is also recognition of the incredibly talented and hardworking staff who share the vision of making Hylands School an outstanding place to learn."
