End of Term Trips

Selected students in Year 7, 8, 9 and 12 were invited on end of term celebration trips. The students invited had consistently met our school expectations since the beginning of term in terms of work-rate, effort, attendance and behaviour. Since the introduction of ClassCharts in the autumn term we have been working really hard as school to build up our reward system and there will be even more opportunities like this in the next academic year.

Years 8, 9 and 12 students were invited to Thorpe Park on Monday 10th of July. Although the M25 traffic wasn’t kind to us (either there or on the way back!) we still managed to have a great day out and enjoy either some huge rollercoasters, immersive experiences (Such as Angry Birds 3D) and other attractions in the park.

Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 were invited to Colchester Zoo on Wednesday 12th July. We had a really lovely day.

Colchester Zoo policy is that students under year 10 must be accompanied by a member of staff so I was based with some students from Year 8 for the day. A member of staff from another school sat between our group when we went on the train ride to see the lemurs. After the train ride she found me to compliment our students and said what a credit to us they were! Molly, Joe, Sophia, Ioan, Ellie, Ria, Austin & Ivan – well done! It was a pleasure to spend the day with you all.

The animals were very active as well, and we also had a talk regarding endangered species and what Colchester Zoo is doing to protect them both here at in their natural habitats. Everyone had a really lovely day and every student was a pleasure to have on the trip and an excellent ambassador for Hylands School.
