Job Title: Deputy Headteacher
Responsible to: Headteacher
Responsible for: Working with the Headteacher in formulating the aims and objectives of the school, establishing the policies through which they shall be achieved, managing staff and resources in order to achieve them and monitoring progress towards them.
The professional duties of all teachers (other than the Headteacher) are set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document (STPC) and describe the duties required by all main scale posts.
Hylands School is seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced senior leader.
The position requires the candidate to have a proven record of significant leadership experience, demonstrating impact in change management and school improvement. The candidate will also
be skilled in stakeholder and community engagement.
The specific responsibilities in the job description will be aligned to the successful candidate’s skills and experience.

The successful applicant will be a strong classroom practitioner with a proven record of raising standards through their own teaching as well as the whole school. There will be a teaching
commitment to the role. They will understand that first wave teaching is the key to successful whole school improvement, and be able to demonstrate the ability to drive the raising of
standards in teaching and learning across Hylands.
It is essential the candidate can demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills, be able to work flexibly as part of a team, deliver under pressure and have the experience of
developing teaching and learning at a strategic level. It is desirable that the successful applicant has experience of developing interventions for all abilities that demonstrates a positive impact on
