A Spectacular Week: Students Shine in Our Production of Oliver!
What a spectacular week it has been! Our school recently transported audiences back to the grime and glory of Victorian London with a stunning production of Lionel Bart’s Oliver!
Based on Charles Dickens’ timeless novel, the musical follows the journey of young Oliver Twist as he navigates the hardships of orphan life, escapes the bleak workhouse, encounters a notorious gang, and ultimately finds hope through the kindness of Mr Brownlow. His transformation from vulnerability to resilience provided an emotional anchor for the entire show.
Our talented cast delivered truly memorable performances. Their teamwork, resilience, responsibility, dedication, and professionalism were evident in every scene. Audiences were captivated by the dynamic relationships on stage: a fearsome Bill Sikes, a charismatic Artful Dodger, and a warm, spirited Nancy. The cunning Fagin and our wonderful Oliver brought depth and charm to the story, supported by a vibrant ensemble who recreated the bustling, poverty-stricken streets of London with remarkable energy.
The magic didn’t just happen on stage! The show was brilliantly supported by our dedicated backstage students. Those working on technical production, sound, and lighting were nothing short of amazing, demonstrating responsibility, professionalism, and impressive skill in managing complex equipment and cues.
Thank you to the incredible number of people who came along to support our students. It truly meant more (Please, sir… yes, MORE!) to them than you know! Our students had such fantastic fun performing! After all, who doesn’t love a good Oom-Pah-Pah to end the week?
Congratulations to everyone involved for bringing this classic tale to life so brilliantly!
