Hylands School Strikes Gold with Prestigious Sports Award
We are absolutely delighted to announce that Hylands School has officially achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme launched in 2012 and facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust. It rewards schools for their commitment to developing sports competition across the school and the wider community. We are thrilled to see our school’s dedication recognised on such a prestigious level.
Putting 'Sport for All' Into Action
At Hylands, our physical education motto is simple: "Sport for all." While we love a gold medal, our true pride lies in participation, resilience, effort, and inclusion. We believe every student should have the opportunity to represent their school, try something new, and experience the joy of teamwork.
This year, a massive number of our students stepped up to represent Hylands. We didn't just participate; we showed up in force across an incredibly wide range of sports.

Outstanding PE Provision & Clubs
Achieving the Gold Mark is a reflection of our outstanding, balanced PE curriculum and our commitment to keeping students moving.
-
30+ Weekly Clubs: We have boosted our extracurricular provision to over 30 weekly clubs, allowing pupils to try everything from traditional hockey, football, and tennis to pickleball.
-
An Inclusive Sports Day: Our annual Sports Day featured 12 different sporting options alongside our incredibly popular Colour Run, ensuring that every single student's interests and abilities were catered to.
-
Leadership & Volunteering: This award is just as much for our young leaders, volunteers, and officials who gave up their time to make these competitions and events possible.
"Achieving this award means Hylands has been recognised for providing outstanding PE provision, including brilliant intra- and inter-school opportunities, leadership development, and a truly inclusive curriculum."
A massive thank you goes out to our incredibly dedicated staff, especially Samantha Wilkinson-Ross (Head of PE) and the rest of the fantastic PE department, whose hard work made this golden year possible.
We are so proud of our students' dedication and enthusiasm, and we look forward to continuing this momentum as we aim for gold again in 2027.
