Clive Cambridge
Assistant Headteacher: Director of SENCo
Mr Cambridge is an experienced and dedicated member of the senior leadership team at Hylands School, where he serves as Assistant Headteacher and Director of SEND. He completed his initial teacher training at Anglia Ruskin University, earning a BEd, and further specialised his expertise with an MA in Teaching and Learning for students with special educational needs and disabilities from Leicester University.
Since beginning his teaching career in 2010, Mr Cambridge has gained a wealth of experience teaching across a broad range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, Geography, Science, Physical Education, and ASDAN. His professional journey has been diverse, encompassing roles such as a primary school teacher, curriculum lead and STEM lead within alternative provision, and Director of Inclusion in a mainstream secondary setting. This variety of experience provides him with a unique and comprehensive perspective on student support and development.
What Mr Cambridge values most about Hylands School is the distinct sense of community and the collective determination for growth. He notes that the drive for excellence is evident in the daily actions of both staff and students, with everyone going above and beyond to ensure the highest quality of education. He feels privileged to be part of what he describes as the Hylands family and is inspired by the school's journey to becoming the local school of choice.
Away from school life, Mr Cambridge is a devoted family man who enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, often visiting local attractions such as Colchester Zoo and Marsh Farm. A keen sports enthusiast, he is particularly passionate about watching and playing rugby, and he also enjoys reading and socialising with friends and his extended family.
