Future Unlocked: Hylands School's Careers Fair Ignites Student Ambition
CHELMSFORD, ESSEX – On Thursday, October 23, 2023, Hylands School became a vibrant hub of opportunity, hosting its much-anticipated annual Careers Fair. The event successfully connected hundreds of students with a diverse spectrum of industries, providing a crucial bridge between academic life and the professional world.
Building on previous triumphs, this year's fair welcomed a packed house of exhibitors, from major players like the NHS and the emergency services to specialists in aerospace, construction, and law. Representatives from Essex County Council and various technical firms showcased the wealth of career possibilities available to our students.
A major draw for students in Years 9 to 11 was the focus on apprenticeships. Students were "excited to learn" about local businesses offering schemes that promise competitive salaries and hands-on experience, debunking old myths and highlighting a viable, high-earning alternative to traditional further education.
Exhibitors were consistently impressed by the students' engagement. "Some of the questions surprised us," remarked one participant, noting the students' mature inquiries about necessary skills, industry realities, and career motivations.
Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing that the fair solidified their post-Year 11 plans. "I now know what I need to do when I finish Year 11," declared one Year 11 attendees, while another confirmed, "I know what grades I need to get my apprenticeship."
Hylands School remains dedicated to empowering students to make informed career choices and looks forward to future partnerships that enhance career education for the next generation.
