Career Spotlight: Year 9 Build a Lasting Legacy
Our Year 9 students took a giant leap toward their future careers on 11th February 2026 by participating in the Building Lasting Legacy programme. This immersive experience saw 32 students transform the classroom into a high-stakes design studio, working under the guidance of industry professionals from the construction and engineering sectors.
From Concepts to Community
The mission was clear: work in teams to design a sustainable building that serves the local community. Students had to balance environmental impact, community needs, and structural feasibility. It was inspiring to see our students debating the merits of solar panels and green roofs with such passion!
Living Our Habits
What made the day truly special was seeing our school habits come to life in a professional setting:
- Be Responsible: Students managed their own project timelines and resources, showing great maturity in their decision-making.
- Be Respectful: Our visitors were incredibly impressed by how the students treated them as colleagues, asking insightful questions and valuing their expertise.
- Be Resilient: When designs didn't quite work or "budgets" ran tight, students didn't give up. They pivoted, problem-solved, and pushed through to the final presentation.
A "Reward" Like No Other
In a rare move, the students were so engrossed in their work that they collectively voted to stay in class through their first to break and lunch reward; they chose extra work over extra rest, a testament to how much they valued the experience!
