Year 9 Pupils Show Resilience on Duke of Edinburgh Practice Weekend
On the weekend of 10th–11th May 2025, twenty-four Year 9 pupils embarked on their Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) practice expedition, navigating routes around Hatfield Peverel and Danbury.
Despite the challenging heatwave conditions, students demonstrated what it truly means to be respectful, resilient, and responsible—hallmarks of our school community. They supported one another throughout the journey, kept spirits high by singing songs, and embraced the countryside with determination and teamwork.
The weekend was a valuable learning experience, offering pupils a taste of expedition life—from map reading and setting up camp, to cooking meals and working together in tough conditions. Many important lessons were taken on board, leaving them well-prepared for their assessed expedition in June.
Well done to all involved for their outstanding attitude and commitment to the DofE programme. You truly represented our school values in action. #respectful #resilient #responsible #oneTKATfamily #DofE
